Nested Knowledge selected for innovative platform study by Cochrane

Minnesota SBIR awardee Nested Knowledge is one of the two artificial intelligence (AI) tools selected to take part in their innovative platform study evaluating how artificial intelligence could support and enhance key stages of evidence synthesis by Cochrane.

The selected tools, Laser AI and Nested Knowledge, were selected from a pool of 48 submissions received in late 2025 following a selection process aligned with Responsible AI in Evidence SynthEsis (RAISE) principles. The main selection criteria were:

  • Existing evaluation evidence bases
  • Evidence provided to substantiate performance claims
  • Scope of AI functionality
  • Level of human oversight during automation
  • Dependency on user-defined prompts

This adaptive study will evaluate how AI can support and enhance key stages of systematic review, and the output will include accuracy assessment against experts. There will be interim findings around mid-2026 and final results by late 2026
