Budgeting and Financial Management Considerations: Part 2

Participants will learn the fundamentals of building an NIH SBIR/STTR budget that supports the proposed work while meeting federal requirements. Topics include direct costs, indirect costs, personnel effort, consultants, subcontractors, supplies, equipment, travel, fee/profit, and budget justification. The session will also introduce post-award financial management expectations, including cost tracking, documentation, allowable expenses, reporting responsibilities, and the importance of establishing sound accounting practices before receiving federal funds. Taxes will be covered as well.
