Ask Me Anything: Low-Cost Radar for Planetary Navigation and Autonomy (NASA SBIR Ignite)
June 12, 2025 | 12:00 – 1:00 PM CT | Virtual
Join NASA for a live Ask Me Anything (AMA) session on Subtopic I03.01, part of the 2025 SBIR Ignite solicitation: Low-Cost mm-Wave and cm-Wave Radar for Planetary Exploration Vehicles.
In this session, you’ll hear directly from the NASA topic author(s) and get a chance to ask your questions about the vision, scope, and potential use cases for this opportunity.
About the Subtopic:
NASA is seeking compact, low-cost radar systems that enable autonomous navigation, 3D terrain mapping, hazard detection, and environmental awareness for rovers and aerial vehicles exploring planetary surfaces. Proposals should focus on adapting commercially available radar technologies—especially mm-wave and cm-wave radar System-on-Chip (SoC) components—for use in the harsh conditions of space.
Ideal solutions are:
– Low-SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power)
– Resistant to dust and lighting extremes
– Applicable to both space missions and Earth-based autonomy systems
This is a great opportunity for radar innovators, autonomy-focused startups, and sensor developers looking to bring their tech to new markets — both on and off the planet.
