NASA 2025 SBIR Ignite Phase I Solicitation is Open

NASA SBIR/STTR is hitting the IGNITION button for the 2025 SBIR Ignite Phase I Solicitation! The Solicitation opened for small businesses on June 2 and closes on July 22, 2025 at 5:00 PM Eastern Time.

With SBIR Ignite, NASA is focusing on innovative technologies with a strong commercial pull. The subtopic areas of interest for this solicitation have been specifically selected for their commercial relevance. Offerors must demonstrate how their technology meets a need within the commercial market and provide a strong plan for commercialization of the technology to be competitive for award.

To make sure small businesses have the resources to prepare for SBIR Ignite, four Ask Me Anything (AMA) webinars were held in June.
Below you will find links to the recorded sessions.

  • General AMA – “Keys to a successful SBIR Ignite Proposal” with Canopy Aerospace, Cecilia Energy, and Space Tango. Watch the Video Here
  • “AI-Powered Design for Multidisciplinary Space Hardware” AMA. Watch the Video Here
  • “Advanced Manufacturing (AM) & Robotics for Space Applications” AMA. Watch the Video Here
  • “Low-Cost Radar for Planetary Navigation and Autonomy” AMA. Watch the Video Here

If you are familiar with the traditional NASA annual SBIR and STTR solicitations, you will notice significant differences in section 3: Proposal Preparation Instructions and Requirements; section 4: Method of Selection and Evaluation Criteria; section 6: Submission of Proposals; and section 8: Submission Forms. Be sure to read each of these sections carefully to ensure your proposal makes it through administrative screening to be considered.

For Phase I, the technical proposal will be separated into 2 distinct parts:

• A White Paper
• A Slide Deck

With the opening of the solicitation, NASA entered into a communications blackout. This means that NASA personnel cannot discuss the SBIR Ignite Phase I Solicitation subtopics with firms while the solicitation is ongoing.

Questions related to electronic submissions, however, can be directed to the NASA SBIR/STTR Help Desk at agency-sbir@mail.nasa.gov.
