Ask Me Anything: Advanced Manufacturing & Robotics for Space Applications (NASA SBIR Ignite)

June 10, 2025 | 12:00 – 1:00 PM CT | Virtual

Join NASA for a live Ask Me Anything (AMA) session focused on three cutting-edge subtopics from the 2025 SBIR Ignite solicitation — all aimed at transforming how we manufacture and build in space.

You’ll hear directly from NASA topic authors and have the chance to ask your questions about the technical scope, commercialization potential, and proposal requirements for the following subtopics:

Subtopic 101.01: Advanced Real-Time Monitoring and Control Technologies for Additive Manufacturing
– NASA seeks sensor-driven, closed-loop AM systems that can detect and correct defects during the build process. Proposals may integrate real-time sensing, analytics, and automation to improve part quality, reduce rework, and enable more reliable production of critical aerospace components.

Subtopic 101.02: Computational Design of New Materials, Processes, and Products Leveraging the Microgravity Environment of Space
– This topic calls for ICME-based approaches that design and simulate next-gen materials and manufacturing processes tailored for microgravity environments. Proposals should accelerate materials discovery, deepen scientific understanding, and unlock scalable commercial manufacturing opportunities in space.

Subtopic 104.01: Modular, Scalable Robotic Subcomponents to Unlock Scalable Robotic Manufacturing & Assembly in Remote, Challenging Environments
– NASA is looking for robust, modular robotic components designed to operate in harsh space environments and integrate into scalable systems for in-orbit, lunar, or planetary manufacturing. Think building blocks for future in-space infrastructure.

This session is ideal for startups, small businesses, and advanced tech developers in additive manufacturing, robotics, materials science, or microgravity R&D.
