The intramural research program itself at the NIH has led to a huge variety of novel basic and clinical research discoveries – all of which require commercial partners in order to develop them into products for hospital\, physician or patient use. With over half of new NIH license agreements granted to small firms and over 1000 products (including 48 FDA-approved drugs and vaccines) launched by NIH licensees\, working with the NIH cannot be overlooked as part of any long-term growth strategy for biomedical firms. \nInstructors \nSteven M. Ferguson currently serves as Special Advisor at the NIH Office of Technology Transfer where he has worked since 1990.  This program at NIH is one of the world’s largest with a portfolio that includes over 2\,000 active licenses with aggregate licensee sales greater than $10B per year that is based upon research that has also generated 45 FDA-approved drugs & vaccines. A former chemist at the National Cancer Institute and biotech industry product manager\, Mr. Ferguson holds Master’s Degrees in Business Administration (George Washington University and Chemistry (University of Cincinnati) as well as Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry (Case Western Reserve University). \nA registered Patent Agent and a Certified Licensing Professional (CLP)\, Mr. Ferguson has served as faculty for the Biotechnology Innovation Organization “BIO Boot Camp”.  He also serves as a business reviewer or advisory board member for Maryland Industrial Partnerships\, Maryland Innovation Initiative\, Virginia Bio-Life Science Gap Fund\, Small Business Innovative Research and the- Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs.[/vc_column_text]\n		Register\n							[/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]

This FLC Educational Webinar will discuss the information\, guidance\, and policies regarding CUI\, focusing on examples for those tasked with protecting and authorizing CUI. Examples will include markings on unclassified documents\, including Department of Defense documents. \nInstructors\nChristina Degnore\, U.S. Army\, As a member of the newly formed U.S. Army Intellectual Property Cell of Experts\, Christina works on a wide variety of intellectual property matters.  Prior to joining the U.S. Army Intellectual Property Cell of Experts\, Christina was the intellectual property law division chief at the Detroit Arsenal/TACOM.  At the U.S. Army Detroit Arsenal/TACOM\, Christina worked extensively on a wide variety of complex Government solicitations\, source selections\, contracts (such as production\, prototypes\, research\, and development contracts)\, Other Transactions\, and Cooperative Research & Development Agreements.  Also\, Christina advised clients regarding invention issues\, patent infringement litigation\, data rights\, software licensing\, trade secret misappropriation\, etc.  This work entailed interpretation and implementation of Federal statutes and regulations\, U.S. Department of Defense and Army policies\, etc.  Christina’s export control work focused on compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations and the Export Administration Regulations.  Christina obtained export licensing exemptions\, and utilized exclusions\, for the export and handling of data and hardware.  Prior to the Army\, she was at Saturn and General Motors for 20 years\, working on engineering\, intellectual property\, and export control matters.  Christina holds an B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering\, a J.D.\, and is a U.S. patent attorney.[/vc_column_text]\n		Register Here\n							[/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
